It is grown and produced in a unique way by artisanal farmers in Japan. The leaves are not steeped, but rather ground into a very fine powder. The whole tea leaf is consumed, providing a phenomenal amount of antioxidants (137 times more than in a brewed cup of tea!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The origins of matcha date back to the Tang dynasty in China, where powdered green tea was first introduced as a medicine and a drink for Buddhist monks.
